I am passionate about restoring the integrity of native ecosystems in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. And I am passionate about the opportunities and rewards for non-scientists to engage in this activity– in a local park or on your own property. Thankfully a growing global movement to recover and restore native ecosystems is thriving– both the science and the practice is rapidly evolving, across all continents. I have spent the last several years learning about that science and practicing in my own community the art and science of restoring damaged landscapes. This blog is dedicated to people who want to make an ecological difference, but who do not have a strong scientific background. I am hoping that my experience can make it easier for others to engage in this highly rewarding, endlessly fascinating, and wonderfully healthy activity.
